Kanye West Sued

In September of 2012, New York record label TufAmerica sued West for using portions of a 1969 song by New Orleans legend Eddie Bo in the Grammy-winning rapper's hit 'My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.'

In 2010, West was sued by musician Vincent Peters over a copyright dispute for the hit track 'Stronger.'

In that case, the court ruled in West's favor when the rapper's attorneys referenced the works of Fredrick Nietzche, whose timeless quote 'that which does not kill us makes us stronger' is used in the song.

Outside of the legal front, West is expecting his first child with 32 year-old reality star Kim Kardashian in July of this year along with his sixth studio album.

Trena Steward and Lorenzo Pryor - two of the children of the man who recorded that single in 1974 - claim their father's voice can be heard saying "Get down" three times, echoing Kanye's line, "Get down girl, get down, get down" on the smash "Gold Digger."

The 2005 smash, that is.

It's unclear why this lawsuit has taken so long to be filed, but Steward and Pryor are asking a judge to stop the sale of "Gold Digger."

They are also seeking unspecified damages, of course.

We're gonna take a wild guess here and say they won't receive any.

In their lawsuit, Trena Steward and Lorenzo Pryor claim West and other defendants have “engaged in the repeated willful infringement of Plaintiffs’ copyrighted music on a massive scale by sampling Plaintiffs’ copyrighted music.”

The claim was filed in California last week, and Steward and Pryor are seeking $150,000 per infringement, plus attorneys’ fees.

There’s no word on the lawsuit from the West camp yet. We assume the big-spending rapper, who blew $1 million on girlfriend Kim Kardashian’s birthday last year and just sold his own mansion for a cool $3.3 million, should be able to cope. He could always reconsider that baby photo offer if things become tight.
