We're told Britney's people listed the house at a modest price, expecting multiple bids and possibly even a bidding frenzy. It looks like it worked out for them, because the price they accepted is more than a million over asking.
And it gets better ... because Britney is under a conservatorship in probate court, there will be a hearing on the sale next month, and anyone can come to court and overbid the accepted offer.
The house is in the Summit, an exclusive gated community -- and it's the house where Brit famously had a meltdown in 2008 ... when she was strapped to a stretcher and taken to a hospital.

But it gets even better for Brit. Because of the conservatorship, the sale must be approved by the probate court later this month, and during the hearing anyone can go before the judge and overbid the buyer.
We just got our hands on court documents, which show that the minimum bid the judge will accept is $4,466,150.
But here's the bad news. Britney paid $6.8 mil back in 2007. Still, all and all, she's doing better than most in this market.
As we first reported, Britney will be moving into a rental with her 2 kids and her fiance Jason Trawick ... until they find something to buy.

The Mediterranean-style property has 7,453 square feet of living space, with five bedrooms and six bathrooms. It is located in the exclusive Summit gated community in Beverly Hills.
The huge mansion boasts spacious rooms with tan coloured walls, a kitchen area with a large marble top table in the centre of the room and a dining room that overlooks a swimming pool and spa. You can see some pics below.
It also has some history – it’s where Spears famously had a meltdown in 2008, and was subsequently strapped to a stretcher and taken to a hospital.

She could make even more on the estate as there will be a hearing on the sale next month, where anyone can outbid the current offer.
The hearing is required because Spears is still under a court-ordered conservatorship following her split from husband Kevin Federline and subsequent public meltdown.
The troubled singer lived in the house during the ordeal and was pictured being carried out of the property strapped to a stretcher in 2008.
